Accredited preceptorship

We offer a 12-month Accredited Preceptorship Programme supporting newly registered nurses, nursing associates and allied health professionals in their first year of practice. It is underpinned by academic evidence of professional learning and reflection, to support competent practice.

We are committed to the development of all staff to ensure individuals have the necessary knowledge and skills required to deliver a high quality service to our patients/service users.

We offer a 12-month accredited preceptorship programme, which focuses on a common approach to preceptorship across the Trust, supporting newly registered nurses, nursing associates and allied health professionals in their first year of practice. It is underpinned by academic evidence of professional learning and reflection, to support competent practice.

Each preceptee has a preceptor, to support them.  You will be enrolled on to the accredited preceptorship programme which contains two units of academic accreditation, each of which can be studied at degree level (Level 6) or Master’s level (Level 7).

Part A is designed to support the practitioner in the first 6 months of practice and focuses on generic professional and clinical development aligned to branch specific NMC standards and HCPC standards of proficiency.

Part B focuses on the development of foundation core-competence skills, in specialist services in line with Trust priorities, national guidelines and registrant career aspirations.

We offer Peer support as an integral part of the programme, with senior staff offering pastoral care in dedicated roles.
