Anna, Social Activities Volunteer at Hopewood Park

I have been a volunteer with Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW) for over a year in a social activities role.

What made you consider volunteering with CNTW?

During my second year in the MSc psychology program, I considered the possibility of helping individuals facing mental health challenges, and I continued working on my assignments and developed research questions for the final report. Simultaneously, I found that CNTW is recognised as a leading research mental health trust in the UK focusing on mood disorders and dementia, which boosted my interest in volunteering with CNTW.

How easy was it to find out about volunteering and how did you find the process, training and support?
After exploring the available position within the Trust, I discovered a straightforward application procedure. The recruitment application involved an interview at St. Nicholas Hospital and afterwards training. I obtained all essential assistance from my Co-ordinators, along with updates from the Manager.

Anything else you would like to share?

I am extremely thankful to the CNTW volunteering for their outstanding collaboration. It is essential to acknowledge the dedicated, ethical dynamic staff members at Hopewood Park. I strongly recommend participating in the volunteering team to pursue future career opportunities or to remain engaged in supporting the mental health of vulnerable individuals.
