Dr Mohammed Elhamshary

I have been working in the field of Psychiatry ten years now and I still have the passion to do more. I enjoy this specialty because I learn everyday something new about life and humans through sharing their experiences. I believe that we choose to be doctors to help people and cure them and psychiatry in my opinion is one of the most valuable specialties in medicine as it treats human brains and our mental condition, which defines who we are.

During the past years I have been really enthusiastic about learning as much as I can from my seniors and consultants and improve my skills. Throughout my career I have demonstrated commitment and ability to take responsibility for my actions, use my initiative, prioritize my duties, work efficiently under pressure, recognize my own abilities and seek advice where necessary.

I am a dynamic, hard-working and conscientious person with a high level of commitment towards my work. I enjoy working in a team, and I have great working relationships with colleagues. I demonstrated excellent leadership skills and I finished few leadership courses to strengthen these abilities.

I have the ability to build appropriate rapport with patients while being empathic and understanding. I trust my abilities in independently managing wide range of psychiatric disorders. I apply self-reflection to my daily practice as I try to improve my knowledge and to approach patients’ problems in a scientific manner.

Current Role in Community Treatment Team

Management of a caseload with my team and communicating efficiently with primary care. I conduct MHA, CTO and Mental Health Tribunals. I arrange strategy meetings and refer to Complex case review panels for challenging patients to provide the best care for them.
