Staff, service users, family, carers and friends involved with Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (NTW), a provider of mental health and disability services came together with third sector organisations and partners to launch a new network.
The Adult Mental Health Strategic Clinical Network covers the North East region and was launched on 18 July. The network aims to promote the wellbeing and high quality care of people using inpatient and community services.
The new network will work closely with existing local mental health networks with launch events being held in Choppington Welfare, Gateshead Stonehills, and the Customs House at South Shields. They gave over 200 people an opportunity to share good practice, promote local links within and beyond NTW, and engage local stakeholders in deciding priorities for the network.
It was wonderful bringing everyone together at the launches. There are a lot of helpful ideas to progress and the purpose of the network is to learn from each other and have better communication between all services and agencies concerned with mental health

Now the network will develop some shared actions with local networks to promote further learning; trauma-informed approaches to care; easy transitions between services; and high quality holistic care in services that are inclusive.
Together everyone is working to celebrate good practice in adult mental health, and to influence and improve services.
