CBT-informed treatment for mild eating disorders (e.g. bulimia)
We are currently providing a treatment package for bulimia and binge eating disorder, based on research and evidence from the work of Professor Glenn Waller of Sheffield University.
We would normally agree to work with people for an initial four sessions, to give people a chance to see if the approach we use is for them, during which we would concentrate on giving information about their eating disorder and its possible physical and psychological effects, and on trying to support people in regularising their eating and in to trying to reduce purging.
If people feel comfortable, and have engaged in these first four sessions, then we would normally offer a further four sessions on trying to address any underlying issues, for example around body image, that may be driving the disorder, followed by a couple of follow up sessions to see how things are going.
