North Cumbria East Community Treatment Team (Carlisle) – CNTW240

The North Cumbria East Community Treatment Team provides a service for adults with severe and enduring mental health conditions. For example, this could include:

  • depression which is difficult to treat, reoccurs or has a significant impact upon your ability to get on with daily tasks
  • personality disorders
  • specific disorders such as moderately severe and severe eating disorder, severe obsessive compulsive disorder, phobias and severe anxiety
  • people with a dual diagnosis such as learning disability, or a substance misuse problem together with a mental health problem

The team is made up of a number of people including mental health nurses, social workers, doctors, occupational therapists and psychologists.

The service and advice offered will be tailored to meet your individual needs. The emphasis is on you recovering your levels of day-to-day functioning and reducing your symptoms, in order that you can lead a more purposeful, meaningful and satisfying lifestyle.  We are increasingly working with colleagues in the 3rd sector to ensure that if there are other opportunities for you which can help with recovery, we can try to ensure you get all the help and support you need.

The time you work with the team will vary depending on your needs. You may be discharged from the team following assessment or following a time limited period of treatment and support from one of the team members.  A discharge and wellbeing plan will be drawn up with you identifying your strengths and supports, a relapse prevention plan and who to contact should you feel you need further involvement with mental health services. Your GP will also be advised of your discharge and any plans we agree with you.

How can I get referred?

You can be referred by your GP or other health professional.
